FILL MEDIA
The Term Cooling Tower fill can be used in cross flow as well as counter flow cooling towers.
The fill is available in treated timber and PVC / polypropylene material.
In Cooling towers, water is cooled by:-
Splash Cooling
or
Film Cooling
1. Splash Cooling
The water flowing downwards is broken down into small drop lets ( for increased surface area) and as a result cooling is
enhanced. The fill support grids for the splash fill are made of Stainless Steel (SS-304) wire. The fill material may be of
Treated Timber Lathe or PVC bars. It is helpful in case the water / air contains impurities or hardness.
2. Film Cooling
This fill is made of Virgin PVC material. The water flows along the film in a thin continuous film. Depending on the
type used it can provide surface area up to 12 times more than that provided by normal Splash fill. It can only be used with
clean water which will not cause any scaling or deposits in fine flutes of this fill.
Big flute size
Generally used for Counter Flow Towers in Power Plants, Steel Plants, Chemical Plants, Tyre
Industry e.t.c. This is a high efficiency Fill media. As per requirement it can be transported in Glued
Packs / Unglued Sheets.
